THE SIXTH AGE OF FIRE
|
Another collaboration comic project with Amir Abu Bakar who did the character designs, layout and lettering of the comic, this comic was our entry for Osiana World, Inspidea's 2016 comic book anthology based on their version of Nusantara.
Titled "The 6th Age of Fire", the comic spanned 14 full-color pages that detailed the epic final battle between the warrior god Gevadha who needed to defeat the primal evil known as Kiamat to prevent utter destruction to his homeworld. |
Sample Comic Pages |
Here are some sample pages from the comic.
Works are produced for and copyrighted to INSPIDEA. |
TIMELAPSE - GEVADHA |
Here's a timelapse video of the iconic panel frompage 10 of the comic. Due to the impact it exudes, it warranted its own poster as part of the Osiana World poster merchandise range.
Timelapse video is recorded using OBS Studio, final editing in After Effects by Michele Chua. |
CHARACTER DESIGNS |
A compilation of how the main character Gevadha came to be.
The side characters appear in the first page of the comic. |
STORYBOARD |
There were many iterations of the comic before it became the version it is today.
Here's the visual journey from its rough storysketch stage to the thumbnails stage (eventually clean-up for colour stage by Amir Abu Bakar). |
OSIANA WORLD - BOOK REVEAL |
When the book printing is ready, I took the chance to film a book-reveal clip (similar to an unboxing video). Go to 0:11 to see the pages of the comic in its printed form.

OSIANA WORLD TRAILER |
Last but not least, here's the Osiana World book trailer that I directed, using the 5 comics as materials for the trailer. Compositing and final editing is done by Michele Chua.
This trailer is memorable to me because it is not only the first book trailer ever created for Inspidea; it is also the first trailer I storyboarded and directed that got quickly approved by the producer without much changes to the flow or script. I suggested the choice of FX I wanted for the trailer, and Michele delivered the quality that fits my vision. With the aid of the IT department, we got to round up good BGM that complements the trailer as well. Therefore, what you see here, is as what I've originally envisioned. |
