GRAPHIC DESIGN
EDITORIAL DESIGN |
Basically, it's about forest corruption within the forest protection plan called [REDD], and I choose the leaf to represent the forest and the human heart to represent humans. But upon further observation, there are several layers of subtle meaning hidden inside the illustration itself, and they both relate and intertwined with each other to sum up the overall content of the chosen article.
The illustration is drawn in a way that the leaf is merged with the human heart, to show the correlation between the subject matter (forestry) and the human nature (corruption). The main heart/leaf is red in colour (to signify the Redd plan), and it stood out from the rest of the leaves (painted spring green) to denote that, just as spring arrived with the first leaves (therefore, just before the Redd plan can be initiated), the heart/leaf has withered (to show the Redd plan has been corrupted). |
CD COVER DESIGNGroup | Yoshihiro Andoh
Album | Mindscape series |
CD cover design (front and inside + disc label) for Yoshihiro Andoh's Mindscape albums. My proposal is for a Best Of album, a compilation of the best tracks from his first two albums.
I designed it in a way that the design is one continuous design from the front to the inside and back right out. This is in relation to the “soundscapes” of his music, where each track is likened to taking a journey through the musician’s mind. In other words, the Disc Label is the "Start" and also the "End" of the album, and the journey through sound is "visualized" through the use of light waves, morphing lines and organic 3D-forms, and at the same time it further emphasized the “soundscape” of his work – which comes across as an effective method to visually convey the various depths and colours in his music (aside from just listening to it). |
