OPERATION [FINAL INVASION]
Project Duration | 8 months Photoshop / After Effects Total Time of Animatics | 14:07 |
It was the year 2053 when the space exploration team sent to the newly discovered Planet Vertex succeeded in what they’ve set out for - but no one on Earth was prepared for what they’ve brought back.
When a space mission went awry and nearly wiped out the capital in the process (and subsequently unleashed a huge horde of unwelcome guests upon the people), it is down to one man and his crew to save the day - but not without its consequences, as great deeds often require greater sacrifices. Unlike most sci-fi alien-battle war stories out there, [Final Invasion] at a glance tells of how humanity tries to fight back against an alien invasion, but on a deeper level, it tells of human struggles, of human emotions, of facing defeats and gaining victories, of determination, promises and sacrifices --- and of eventual hope. |
Environment Art
The name of the planet was given in the script --- but how does the name come about? A good environment can tell its own story and origins - and like its namesake, the planet was named thus since the day the crew entered the planet and first discovered the highest crystal peak that towered over the rest of the crystalline landscape.
This artwork borrowed some interesting influences from Buckminster Fuller, super-highways in China, and the unique architecture of Cinque Terre. All in all, it is the vision of the capital post-Invasion.
Likewise, while the capital is in the midst of a huge rebuilding project, the outer areas are not so fortunate. Based on the original background plate by a team member, elements are added and taken away before reaching this version of Chinatown, post-Invasion.
